Ringing In The New Year with Angel Court

Everyone usually has somewhat of a New Year's resolution or goal. This year I am going with reminders... reminders through symbolism. Reminders to be positive, courageous and devoted to the love that surrounds me.
I have always been drawn to and inspired by the symbolism behind crystals. They are thought to have healing abilities, as well as being able to repel negativity and inspire creativity. That being said, I was excited when I found a beautiful line of symbolic jewelry in Angel Court Jewels latest micro collection called "Archetype".
Angel Court defines "Archetype" as the visual and energetic symbols within our minds that can connect humanity across culture and time.
Not only is Angel Court offering crystals in their bohemian inspired collection, but they also include other symbolic charms such as the Coin for change, the Asian Bells for leaving behind ill luck and ringing in the 'new', the Lion for courage, the Horseshoe for luck and protection and the Dagger for determination, love, and pureness of heart.

I'd also like to add in a favorite of mine, the Antler, for determination.
No matter what your resolutions or goals are for the year, try to keep in mind the things that drive you and remind you of your focus. Happy 2014 everyone!!!! Hope it holds some beautiful moments for you all! Take a Chance, Make a Wish, Make a Change, Live Positive.
Angel Court Jewels are Handcrafted in the USA, using recycled metals. All photos are by Courtney Taylor Trawick, who also happens to be the designer behind Angel Court Jewels! Muti-talented? yes.

'Open Heart Sugary' on a Tuesday

Meet Amber Neal. She is a 24 year old native Mississippian who is every bit as sweet as she is talented. I had the pleasure of spending an evening with her and capturing some of the most beautiful pictures.
Amber is a vocalist and plays the ukulele, as well as the occasional shaker, in the band 'Old Southwest'. I recommend checking this band out.. they will leave you feeling nostalgic and haunted, in a good way.
She also has a blog called 'Open Heart Sugary', in which she explores some of the things that she loves about life in the south.
Keep a look out for more on Amber.. she is also into some artistic projects such as costume and dress designing, makeup and hair. I can't wait to see what she creates, and hopefully I can share.
Here are some of my favorite photos from Tuesday evening.

Industrial Waste

I took these photos in a small town named Stonewall, MS. The photos are of bits and pieces of an old abandoned mill that was established in 1868. I find these types of old abandoned buildings haunting and historical, with a bit of mystery, longing to be remembered somehow... even as it is broken down into industrial waste.

Balance In Difference

Add caption
Some things in life are better a little mixed up, a little out of place or contradictory. Hard mixed with soft, delicate and harsh, light and dark or subtle but abstract.
It's the balance of two opposing characteristics coming together in harmony that can make life, love, and expression a little more interesting and beautiful.
